Décor Steals is an off-price rapidly growing online bargain retailer that focuses on home décor products. Sourcing from various wholesalers and direct from manufacturers both domestically and international, Décor Steals provides customers with unique decorating pieces at a fraction of their retail price.


Products range from statement furniture pieces to serving trays; from wall hangings to lavender, but are always inspired by the vintage farmhouse look.


Founded in 2009, the company started as a one-woman show but has experienced tremendous growth over the past few years and is looking to support that growth through several key hires.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Developing and executing an annual buying and selling plan that accounts for current market trends, changes in customer preferences, and seasonality across all categories and channels
  • Proactively networking with and developing strong working relationships with wholesalers and manufacturers both domestically and internationally
  • Utilize product data and analyze market trends to manage inventory, reduce product costs, and generate revenue growth
  • Analyzing financial data, anticipating consumer buying patterns and managing inventory levels.
  • Work closely with Marketing and Web Content teams on product vision and selling strategy
  • Establish relationships with importers to expand and diversify international sourcing efforts
  • Identify and recommend future trends, new products, and business opportunities
  • Develop and implement a product ordering management system
  • Offers product designs
  • Manage personal schedule and deliverables while also managing up
  • Excels in follow up and persistence
  • Ensures retrieval of requested detailed item information and product images from wholesaler.
  • Facilitates and executes purchase orders
  • Develop and maintain relationships with wholesalers and artisans
  • Use multiple operating systems and files to run reporting and view order information
  • Extensive data entry and analysis using Excel
  • Track and manage quality/ shortage claims with wholesalers


CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a buyer and a minimum of 4 years of experience in merchandising for a successful retailer (preferably off-price & in the home decor industry)
  • Well versed in domestic purchasing, planning & allocation, manufacturing and design. Import & international purchasing experience is desired.
  • Experience in identifying market trends to help reach and exceed sales and margin plan. Curate a well-rounded and financially successful assortment based on the companies goals and visions.
  • Extensive experience negotiating with vendors and developing purchasing contracts. We are firm believers in disciplined inventory and expense management
  • Proven track record for developing and maintaining strong relationships with vendors.
  • Full understanding of the power of product selection & procurement in building a strong on trend brand.
  • Must possess strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects
  • Expert MS Excel user with strong analytical and math skills
  • Bachelors Degree required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Track record for working in a fast-paced, high-growth company
  • Ability to think outside the box, pursue creative solutions, and a willingness to take risks
  • Must be a self-starter with a positive and assertive outlook
  • Experience in a high-paced environment that requires excellent time-management and organization skills as well as good sense of humor.
  • Must be a team player
  • Coordinate and communicate with cross functional team members to ensure execution of deliverables
  • Comp shop and offer creative direction for product development and product newness to ensure brand relevance. Comp shopping to ensure that we are pricing to and below market.
