Responsibilities:

  • Draft and File Patent Applications: Work with inventors to draft and file patent applications.
  • Prosecute Patents: Communicate with patent examiners and respond to office actions.
  • Conduct Prior Art Searches: Perform searches and analyze results for patentability and freedom to operate.
  • Counsel Clients: Advise clients on IP strategy and hold meetings to discuss inventions and cases.
  • Manage IP Portfolios: Oversee clients' patent portfolios and develop strategies.
  • Research: Stay updated on technical and legal developments.
  • Draft Legal Documents: Write and review patent-related legal documents.
  • Collaborate: Work with other legal professionals and network within the industry.
  • Administrative Tasks: Maintain records, handle billing, and manage client communications.
  • Patent portfolio management and strategy.
  • Conducting research and assisting on matters and proceedings before the USPTO.

Qualifications:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in engineering (electrical, mechanical, industrial, aerospace, software, chemical) or computer science).
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • 1 or more years of patent prosecution experience.
  • Registered to practice before the USPTO.
  • Experience in preparation and prosecution of U.S. patent applications for both domestic and foreign clients from start-ups to large corporations in different industries.
  • Extensive and multidisciplinary STEM background.
