The Senior Director, Scientific Communications, is a highly experienced professional in the medical affairs field, responsible for leading and executing strategic publication plans and scientific communication initiatives across the organization's portfolio. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, overseeing the development of publications, and ensuring adherence to industry guidelines. Additionally, the Senior Director will play a key role in developing scientific content for various stakeholders and managing external vendors. The position requires strong leadership, communication, and project management skills, as well as a deep understanding of clinical research and medical science.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of scientific communications strategies and publication plans for the organization.
  • Oversee the creation and dissemination of impactful scientific communications, including abstracts, posters, oral presentations, manuscripts, and literature reviews.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues to identify evidence generation gaps and address them through timely publications.
  • Establish and manage scientific communication platforms and lexicons for the organization's assets.
  • Develop and implement training programs for internal stakeholders on medical and scientific topics.
  • Partner with external agencies and manage vendor relationships for publication and communication activities.
  • Ensure compliance with industry guidelines for authorship and good publication practices.
  • Lead the development and execution of conference strategies and materials to optimize the organization's presence.
  • Build and manage a high-performing team of scientific communication professionals.
  • Stay updated on scientific literature and attend key scientific meetings to maintain clinical and technical expertise.


Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MD, PharmD, PhD) in a life sciences discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, with at least 7 years in publications and scientific communications.
  • Neurology experience highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully developing and implementing impactful publication plans and scientific communications.
  • Excellent problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in project management and team leadership.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across the organization and across functional areas.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid work environment (2-3 days in office)
