Job Summary

The Senior Controls Engineer is a key technical leader responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing complex control systems for industrial automation projects. This role requires advanced expertise in PLC programming, motion control, and vision systems, as well as the ability to mentor junior engineers and lead project teams. The Senior Controls Engineer plays a crucial role in developing innovative automation solutions and ensuring their successful implementation for clients.

 

This position serves as a bridge between technical execution and strategic planning, requiring the ability to balance hands-on engineering work with high-level project oversight. Senior Controls Engineers are expected to drive technological innovation within the company, identifying emerging trends and evaluating their potential application in client projects. They also act as technical advisors to clients, helping to shape project scopes and providing expert guidance throughout the implementation process. The role offers the opportunity to significantly impact the company's growth and reputation in the industrial automation sector, while continually pushing the boundaries of what's possible in control system design and implementation.

 

Qualifications

  • Advanced technical expertise in PLC programming (especially Allen Bradley PLCs), motion control, and vision systems
  • Strong proficiency in electrical design and industrial automation
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems and their integration with control systems
  • Excellent problem-solving and creative thinking skills
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities
  • Advanced project management skills, including cost and timing estimation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts for various audiences
  • Strong organizational and prioritization abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards and regulations (e.g., NFPA, UL, NEC)
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field
  • Adaptability and willingness to travel between 50-75% of the time to customer sites (hybrid role when not onsite)
