Our client is looking for a Safety Coordinator.


  • 100% On Site (NO remote option)
  • Must reside in commutable distance to Sant Barbara County


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience, with at least 3 years of relevant training or work experience.

Summary

The Safety Coordinator manages safety programs, training, and compliance procedures to meet federal, state, and local regulations. This role provides administrative support to the Safety Committee and Director of Human Resources, ensuring a safe and compliant workplace environment.


Key Responsibilities


Accident Management

  • Process vehicle and equipment accident claims, coordinating with insurance carriers, legal authorities, supervisors, and the Fleet Department.
  • Maintain and distribute monthly accident data reports and follow up on unreported incidents.
  • Handle damage reimbursements, ensuring timely receipt from insurers.

Workers’ Compensation

  • Submit workers’ compensation claims and provide necessary documentation to injured employees.
  • Maintain OSHA logs, workers’ compensation reports, and HR database entries for injuries.
  • Ensure effective communication with injured employees to facilitate their return to work.

Driver Compliance

  • Oversee the CHP Employer Pull Notice Program by monitoring violations and notifying supervisors as necessary.
  • Manage DMV medical certificate renewals, ensuring compliance and record accuracy.
  • Conduct pre-employment and annual Clearinghouse queries for Class A drivers and facilitate driver training compliance.

Drug & Alcohol Testing

  • Administer random drug and alcohol testing per DOT regulations.
  • Maintain test records, obtain statistical summaries, and ensure compliance with FHWA reporting.

Safety Programs & Training

  • Organize and lead bi-monthly OSH Committee meetings, addressing work injuries and safety recommendations.
  • Distribute monthly safety training topics for material handling teams.
  • Administer annual safety awards and manage certifications for drivers and equipment operators.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Maintain and update the Injury and Illness Prevention (IIP) and Emergency Preparedness Plans.
  • Track and replenish first aid kit inventories across locations.
  • Schedule and support biannual CPR and first aid training.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Track and update safety-related certifications, ensuring timely renewals.
  • Maintain primary records for Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and conduct biannual audits.
  • Enter safety-related disciplinary actions and training records in the HR database.

Administrative Support

  • Support the Safety Committee and Director of Human Resources with meeting minutes and documentation.
  • Monitor and order safety equipment as needed.
