Analytical Development Scientist

We are a rapidly expanding organization seeking a skilled and accomplished individual to join our team as an Analytical Senior Scientist or Principal Scientist. This role will play a pivotal part in our research and development efforts, focusing on small molecule chemistry, degradation pathways, characterization, and stabilization techniques.

San Diego, CA
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, execution, and analysis of experiments related to small molecule chemistry, with a specific focus on ophthalmic and injectable drug products.
- Conduct screening of formulations to assess solubility and stability of drug candidates.
- Utilize analytical equipment such as HPLC-UV and LC-MS for experimental purposes.
- Develop and validate analytical methods for drug product prototypes.
- Design and execute experiments to evaluate characteristics of formulations, including in vitro release profiles, solubility, loading capacity, degradation, and stability.
- Prepare comprehensive reports detailing experimental findings and product development progress.
- Maintain accurate and compliant laboratory documentation according to scientific and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals and uphold operational best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field; advanced degree (MS/PhD) preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years' experience in a corporate setting focused on formulation and analytical development of small molecules.
- Proficiency with HPLC-UV and/or LC-MS instruments.
- Strong background in sample preparation and characterization of sterile dosage forms.
- Demonstrated expertise in applying scientific principles to solve pharmaceutical development challenges.
- Experience with CMC documentation preparation for regulatory submissions (preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in accordance with CDC guidelines.
- Strong work ethic and integrity, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
