Job Description:

The Senior Risk Manager will be ultimately responsible for developing, recommending, and administering risk management and loss prevention programs, such as property and casualty insurance and product liability service (excluding insured employee benefit plans), to attain maximum protection at the most economical rates in partnership with senior leadership and selected broker. This position will report to the Senior Vice President and Treasurer and will serve as a functional manager as well as an individual contributor with no internal direct reports to delegate responsibilities. An ideal candidate is a hands on, self-starter who is able to work independently to execute varying levels of responsibilities.

Core Functions of Senior Risk Manager:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve risk management strategies, policies, and procedures to mitigate potential risks to the organization.
  • Support strengthening and standardization of strategic risk management across various risk programs and business areas.
  • Lead the development of strategies to improve risk reporting and analysis using data and technology.
  • Implement processes and tools to support the identification, measurement, monitoring, and control of strategic risks, including emerging risks.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and identify key risks associated with business operations, financial activities, projects, and other areas.
  • Support and manage execution of CAPTIVE Program.
  • Collect data and assemble documents for annual renewal processes. Work with brokers to process renewal information and partner with SVP, Treasurer for decisions regarding annual renewals.
  • Oversee claims management process, including researching all claims, reviewing onsite paperwork regarding claims, and communicating with insurance providers and individuals regarding claims related to property, casualty, or other policies.
  • Serve as primary contact between the business and the broker of record.
  • Apply strategic thinking to ensure continuous improvement of strategic risk management. This includes analysis of industry dynamics, strategic risks, and emerging trends.
  • Collaborate effectively with senior management and department heads to develop risk mitigation plans and ensure their effective implementation.
  • Collaborate with internal audit, compliance, and legal teams to ensure alignment of risk management activities with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Provide guidance and support to business units on risk identification, assessment, and mitigation strategies. Be able to interpret and advice on complex risk solutions for business needs.
  • Prepare and present risk reports and findings to senior management as required.
  • Ad hoc projects as assigned.


Candidate Qualifications:

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with ability to develop, deliver, and manage communications both internally and externally.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Good business acumen, strategic thinker, leadership skills, flexible, resilient, courageous, and composed under pressure.
  • Strong ability to work independently with little oversight.

Ability to manage projects to completion within a deadline in a dynamic environment and foster collaboration between project stakeholders.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and make informed decisions.

Education/Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.

Minimum 10-15 years of Risk Management experience.
