Quality Control Gradation Technician

I. Primary Function:
The Aggregate Gradation Technician is responsible for the safe, timely, and accurate completion of aggregate gradation samples taken from our various production facilities.
II. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform ongoing lab and field sampling. Testing to ensure that material produced and shipped meet State, project and customer specifications and expectations.
- Complete some service, repair, and calibration of laboratory and field-testing equipment on a timely basis.
- Carries out regular updates to appropriate Quality Control and Quality Assurance test databases and spreadsheets and provides report summaries or analyses as needed.
- Able to learn the basic operations of cement, asphalt and/or aggregate plants.
- Assist Plant Superintendents and Managers as required.
- Be a responsible advocate for on-the-job safety and the environment.
- Work under general / minimal supervision; customarily works 20-30% of the time without direct supervision.
III. Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintain lab equipment cleanliness including the sample buckets, Mary-Ann Shakers, and Ploog Material Washer.
- Punctuality is a MUST
IV. Required Skill/Knowledge:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Basic math skills (including Algebra)
- Organized and proactive approach to improving lab cleanliness.
- Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently.
- Illinois DOT Aggregate Technician Certificate or the ability to obtain within 3 months of start date.
- Lifting sample buckets of 50lbs or more-frequently daily
- Climbing ladder daily to obtain aggregate production samples
- Standing 6 hours at a time frequently
V. Preferred Skills/ Knowledge:
- Basic Microsoft skills including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
VI. Education Level / Required Certification:
- High School Graduate
