Commissioning Engineer- Data Centers


DataX Connect are representing an engineering pioneer in the mission critical commissioning space, who require a Commissioning Engineer for long term projects in New Albany, OH.


Key Responsibilities


Commissioning Planning and Management


  • Develop and implement detailed commissioning plans and schedules for data center systems.
  • Coordinate with project stakeholders to ensure all commissioning activities are aligned with project timelines and objectives.
  • Review and approve commissioning documentation, including test procedures, reports, and checklists.


Systems Testing and Validation


  • Conduct and oversee the testing of mechanical, electrical, and IT systems to ensure they operate according to design specifications.
  • Perform integrated systems testing to ensure all systems function together as intended.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues, ensuring timely resolution to maintain project schedules.


Documentation and Reporting


  • Maintain comprehensive commissioning records, including test results, issue logs, and resolution reports.
  • Prepare and present commissioning reports to project stakeholders, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
  • Ensure all commissioning documentation is accurate, complete, and stored appropriately.


Quality Assurance and Compliance


  • Ensure all commissioning activities comply with industry standards, codes, and best practices.
  • Verify that systems are installed and function in compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure quality control throughout the commissioning process.


Collaboration and Coordination


  • Work closely with design and construction teams to ensure commissioning requirements are integrated into the overall project plan.
  • Liaise with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to coordinate commissioning activities and resolve any issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams, ensuring a clear understanding of commissioning processes and requirements.


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., LEED, PMP) are a plus.


Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in commissioning, preferably within data centers or mission-critical facilities.
  • OR NETA or TAB (Desirable)
  • OR Nuclear Navy Technician experience


Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical & electrical systems used in data centers.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in using commissioning software and tools.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.


Work Environment


  • The work environment may involve exposure to high noise levels, electrical hazards, and other safety risks, requiring adherence to strict safety protocols.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours may be required to meet project deadlines.
