As an activity specialist, you will oversee and facilitate your teaching subject matter (arts/sports) for a group of students. Your leadership will ensure that each student is productive and motivated, seizing opportunities to help develop themselves beyond expectations. Your enrichment classes will not only be a much-needed outlet for creativity and expression, but they will also be providing young minds the opportunity to decompress and enjoy their final few hours in the school building before they head home and reset for the day. This is a part-time position for the 2024-25 school year, Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Responsibilities
- Subject Matter Class Delivery: Facilitate 45–50-minute classes in your designated subject matter (arts/sports) that are well planned and enriching, nurture the diverse youth HCC serves, and provide positive and fun experiences for participants
- Lesson Prep: Create thorough and detailed lesson plans and submit them to the program coordinator or director every two weeks
- Program Coordination: Oversee daily operations of afterschool class/club, ensuring that activities are carried out effectively
- Student Engagement: Encourage students to engage in activities that align with their educational and recreational goals and objectives, creating a positive and stimulating atmosphere
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety measures and program policies, maintaining a safe environment for all participants
- Communication: Act as a point of contact for after-school administrators, providing program updates and resolving issues
- Administrative Tasks: Oversee administrative tasks, including keeping track of daily attendance, sign-in/out sheets, behavior, accident, and incident reports if need be
- Professional Development: Engage proactively in training sessions, designated meetings, and special events
- Support children with academic enrichment activities
- Encourage a polite, hospitable, and inclusive atmosphere that values differences among all participants.
- Help group leaders inspire and support participants while in the program
- Exemplify professionalism and positive behavior, setting a standard as a role model for students
