Application Development Team Lead

Optomi is seeking a highly motivated Application Development Team Lead to join our client in the personal insurance industry. An ideal candidate will leverage their technical proficiency and leadership competencies to drive the delivery of key objectives. From Cloud to DevOps to Modernization to Strategic Business initiatives you will have the opportunity to lead multiple work streams to deliver innovative solutions. As a Software Engineering Team Lead you will be responsible for ensuring both on-time successful delivery, and the technical and architectural quality of the solutions.


This is a full-time position that is hybrid with 2 days a week expected in office. This is a hands-off lead role that will eventually turn to a people manger position. Candidates local to Hartford, CT area very highly preferred. W2 candidates only as no sponsorship is offered.


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Product, Business and IT organizations.
  • Lead high performing team(s) in iteratively delivering key business value.
  • Ensure deliverables are on-time and of high quality.
  • Resolve and/or escalate technical and project delivery issues.
  • Drive process improvements within the team and across the department to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Assist in prioritizing new development projects, enhancement projects for existing systems, and system maintenance requests.
  • Act as a key contributor in planning and estimation of projects.
  • Ensure design, code, and test plan reviews are conducted as appropriate.
  • Report program status, KPIs, OKRs to leadership.


Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Proven history of owning and taking accountability for leading others to complete complex deliverables.
  • 7+ years of experience leading and/or hands-on development of applications.
  • Experience in full stack design and/or development (.NET, C#, Angular, API and SQL preferred)
  • Knowledge of modern Agile frameworks and practices such as Scum, Kanban, DevOps, test driven development, and test automation, as well as the underlying principles.


Preferred Experience:

  • SAFe agile work experience or similar agile process
  • College degree in Computer Science or Management Information systems
  • Property Casualty Insurance experience
  • Experience of leading multi-million-dollar IT initiatives.
