Position Summary: The Facilities Construction Engineer will oversee the design, construction and commissioning of a cogeneration plant utilizing natural gas process equipment (up to 1250psig), relying upon Siemens 25MW steam turbine electric generators, high pressure steam system involving piping and vessels. This role involves managing all phases of construction projects, ensuring adherence to design specifications, regulatory requirements, and safety standards. The Facilities Construction Engineer will collaborate with design teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
Manage and coordinate construction activities for the cogeneration plant, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
Monitor project progress and make adjustments as needed to ensure successful completion on time and within budget.
Design and Engineering Oversight:
Review and approve construction plans, drawings, and specifications related to the cogeneration plant.
Ensure that all construction work aligns with engineering designs, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with design engineers to address any design issues or modifications during construction.
Contractor and Vendor Management:
Select and manage contractors, subcontractors, and vendors involved in the construction process.
Oversee contractor performance, ensuring compliance with contract terms and quality standards.
Review and approve contractor invoices and change orders.
Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
Conduct regular site inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards.
Implement and enforce safety protocols and emergency procedures on the construction site.
Quality Assurance:
Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure the construction meets all project specifications and standards.
Perform inspections and tests to verify the integrity and performance of construction work.
Communication and Reporting:
Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, including clients, regulatory agencies, and internal teams.
Prepare and present regular progress reports, including project status, risks, and issues, to senior management and stakeholders.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
Maintain accurate and comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, drawings, and change orders.
Ensure proper record-keeping of construction activities, inspections, and approvals.
Problem Solving and Troubleshooting:
Identify and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during the construction process.
Propose and implement solutions to overcome obstacles and keep the project on track.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction engineering or project management, preferably with experience in cogeneration or power plant projects.
Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license or Construction Manager Certification (CMC) is preferred.
Skills:
Strong understanding of cogeneration plant construction, particularly with natural gas systems.
Proficiency in project management software and construction tools.
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
