Job Description:

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Instrumentation & Controls Designer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, installing, calibrating, troubleshooting, and maintaining instrumentation systems used in our clients' capital projects. The role will involve collaborating closely with project managers, engineers, technicians, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects within scope, budget, and schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Instrumentation System Design:
  • Develop detailed instrumentation system designs based on project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Select appropriate instruments, sensors, and control devices considering factors such as accuracy, reliability, and environmental conditions.
  • Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for instrumentation systems.
  1. Installation and Commissioning:
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and calibration of instrumentation systems at project sites.
  • Conduct functional testing and performance verification to ensure proper operation and compliance with specifications.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to installation teams and subcontractors.
  1. Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspection, and calibration of instrumentation equipment to ensure reliability and accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose faults or malfunctions in instrumentation systems, and implement corrective actions promptly.
  • Develop preventive maintenance schedules and procedures to minimize downtime and optimize system performance.
  1. Project Coordination:
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to define project requirements, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Participate in project meetings, progress reviews, and technical discussions to address issues and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Monitor project schedules and budgets, and provide input to identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
  1. Quality and Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, regulations, and safety guidelines in all instrumentation activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of calibration, testing, and maintenance activities, and prepare documentation for audits and inspections.
  • Implement quality assurance processes and best practices to uphold the highest standards of workmanship and reliability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, instrumentation engineering, or related experience. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Ten (10) plus years’ experience in instrumentation & controls design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance, preferably in large capital projects.
  • Proficiency in using CAD software for instrumentation design and AutoCAD for creating technical drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation principles, measurement techniques, control systems, and process automation.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as ISA (International Society of Automation), IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), and ANSI (American National Standards Institute).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate and interact with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Instrumentation Technician (CIT), Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST)) would be an advantage.
