Investment Research Analyst at Global Value Investment Corporation
Global Value Investment Corporation (GVIC) is a privately held investment firm that provides asset management and advisory services to institutional and individual clients. GVIC is seeking an investment research analyst who is passionate about finding and evaluating investment opportunities across the world through the application of value-based investment principles.
You will be responsible for conducting in-depth research on companies, industries, trends, and themes, using both quantitative and qualitative methods. GVIC manages both equity and debt investments. Accordingly, you will be responsible for the analysis of publicly listed securities across all parts of a company’s capital structure. You will also write clear and concise reports and presentations, communicate your findings and recommendations to our clients and stakeholders, and participate in various marketing and outreach activities.
Other responsibilities of the position include:
- Researching and analyzing individual businesses, various sectors, markets, and asset classes, using financial modeling, valuation, and other techniques.
- Reading and assessing all relevant public filings for current and potential investments including but not limited to Forms 3, 4, 8-K,10-Q, 10-K; Schedules 13D, 13G, 14A; and issuer-produced press releases and investor presentations.
- Writing high-quality research reports and presentations, with actionable insights and recommendations.
- Communicating with clients and stakeholders, answering their queries and providing feedback.
- Collaborating with other analysts and experts, sharing best practices and insights.
- Keeping up to date with the latest developments and news in the global investment landscape.
To be successful in this role, you should have the following qualifications and skills:
- At least two years of experience in investment research, analysis, accounting, consulting or similar job function.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Knowledge of financial markets, accounting, valuation, and investment strategies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Self-motivated, curious, and eager to learn new things.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and deadlines.
- High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Willing to travel about 10% of the time to visit clients, attend conferences, and conduct field research on existing and potential investments. This includes occasional international travel.
No prior licensure is required for this position. It is expected that new analysts sit for the FINRA Series 65 (Uniform Investment Advisor Law) Exam within the first year of employment.
Compensation for this position is a base salary of $65,000 to $85,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications, plus an annual cash performance bonus. GVIC is 100% employee owned. As such, employees may be granted common stock in GVIC in addition to their annual cash performance bonus. GVIC offers employees a 401(k) plan with company match. After twelve months of employment, GVIC provides unlimited time off subject to the requirements of firm operations. Employees are also provided parental leave and other benefits.
This is a full-time, remote position. You will be expected to attend virtual meetings scheduled on US eastern time. Employees of GVIC are not permitted to have concurrent employment unless given express written consent from GVIC’s Chief Compliance Officer. GVIC’s employees are subject to customary federal, state, and internal regulatory and compliance restrictions related to investment management. This position will report to the VP of Investment Research and work closely with other investment research, sales, and operations professionals at GVIC.
