Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Preconstruction Engineer to support our project planning and execution efforts. In this role, you will play a vital part in the early stages of our construction projects, providing critical technical expertise, cost analysis, and coordination to ensure successful project outcomes. The ideal candidate is a team player with strong organizational skills and a passion for delivering high-quality work in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of detailed project estimates and budgets, including materials, labor, and equipment costs.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and design teams to evaluate project scope and technical requirements.
- Analyze construction drawings, specifications, and related documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Develop preliminary schedules to align with project goals and timelines.
- Research and source materials, equipment, and subcontractors to support cost-effective project planning.
- Support value engineering initiatives to optimize project design and cost.
- Provide technical support during the bidding and negotiation process.
- Maintain clear communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency throughout the preconstruction phase.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in preconstruction, estimating, or a related role, preferably in the HVAC and Plumbing industries.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and systems.
- Proficiency in construction estimating software and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to use applications and software relevant to the mechanical and controls industry.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
