Job Overview

Reporting to the VP of Engineering, the Software Engineering Manager will lead a team of talented software engineers. Your role will be a rewarding balance of team development, technical guidance, and business strategy. You and your team will be responsible for the architecture, design, and implementation of user interfaces and back end and server technologies to support them. You will work with all stakeholders and developers from design to implementation, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and meet the company’s high-quality standards. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will support technical development while concentrating on the growth and development of your team members. Key Responsibilities

  • Inspire and mentor the engineering team in their career while achieving business and technical goals.
  • Break-down product requirements and technical designs into actionable tasks.
  • Promote software development best-practices and conduct rigorous code reviews.
  • Review technical designs, conduct code reviews and write code as needed.
  • Help team members troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Work closely with Product Managers and Designers to ensure requirements and priorities align.
  • Work closely with Project Management to ensure timelines and deliverables are completed on time and within scope.
  • Drive Innovation: Champion new technologies, methodologies, and approaches to improve the development process and the overall product.
  • Platform Expertise: Oversee the development of UI and cloud backend infrastructure.
  • Stakeholder Management: Report progress to senior leadership and communicate complex technical details in a clear and concise manner.


Qualifications and Experience


Leadership Experience: At least three years of experience in a leadership role, managing software development teams and overseeing the delivery of software projects.


Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to guide and mentor engineers while working effectively with cross-functional teams.


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. MBA preferred but not required.
  • Experience with UI/UX designs and implementations on desktop and web/cloud platforms.
  • Experience building back-end services with Typescript or Node.
  • Experience with MySQL, MariaDB, or other relational database.
  • Experience with modern UI frameworks such as React.
  • Git and version control software like Gitlab, GitHub, or Bitbucket
  • Experience with networking protocols such as sockets, HTTP, REST, and WebSockets.
  • Experience with test driven development practices.


Preferred Skills

  • Experience with consumer and professional video – HDMI, SDI, DisplayPort
  • Experience with C++, C#, and Swift/Objective-C
  • Background in math and physics
  • Passionate about video and color quality
  • Experience with display color calibration
