Senior/Principal Embedded Software Engineer

Grand Rapids, MI


This company, a profitable, growing developer of automotive technology, is looking for a Lead Embedded Software Engineer to join their team developing vehicle access products. This role is a combination of leadership and hands-on embedded software responsibilities, as you’ll be a key team member developing next generation vehicle access products.


This position can be filled at the Senior or Principal level.

Position Description

In this position, you’ll be the subject matter expert in embedded software development, taking projects through the full life cycle (concept to production). This includes both the hands-on development work and mentoring junior-level team members. Other responsibilities include:

Work directly with customers and suppliers to develop and manage designs, requirements,

specifications, etc.

  • Participate in Agile Scrum teams through sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, sprint reviews and daily standups.
  • Quoting new programs through estimation of hours, costs for tools and licenses by engaging with our internal team and our supply base.
  • Support engineering in new product development and managing lessons learned.
  • Generate and evaluate software architecture alternatives
  • Consider product cybersecurity aspects for product development and deployment
  • Write C Code to meet functional and technical specifications.
  • Perform peer reviews on all artifacts during the lifecycle of a project.
  • Code compliance to MISRA-C, CERTC and ADAC coding guidelines.
  • Create and maintain software architecture and detail designs.
  • Support Test Lab functional test requirements.
  • Support manufacturing regarding inline product testing methods, specifications, and equipment selection.
  • Investigate alternative suppliers and licensing models of electronic content for future products.
  • Evaluate, assess, and troubleshoot electronics content contained in core product base.


Qualifications

  • BSEE/CE with 7+ years of experience in automotive/vehicle embedded software development.
  • Experience taking embedded development projects (C/C++) through the full development life cycle.
  • Experience working with global teams on development projects.
  • A background in electronic lab tools (power supply, multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.) and with AUTOSAR configuration tools is preferred.
  • Ability to root cause issues utilizing methodologies such as 8D.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Compensation:

$125-155K, plus bonus and full benefits
