JOB DESCRIPTION:

*Position could require work in the lab using hazardous chemicals (e.g., glue, machinery)

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Owns a sub-system and independently identifies issues or patterns of issues related to systems-level software and hardware design and the implications for work within and across teams; shares a use-case scenario and targets for the market; makes overall recommendations for new technologies and to address ambiguous issues, design architectures, generate solutions, and develop models, code, and/or simulations.

• Supports design reviews for platform development; leads evaluation of system performance based on constraints and/or capabilities of design; works with multiple groups outside domain to support design integrity.

• Provides leadership and mentorship for a cross-functional team to design products and solutions and drives their implementation, meeting internal and/or external customer requirements and standards.

• Architects test environment to verify code or design for the sub-system; leads others to evaluate the impact of results, problem solve solutions, and validate software and hardware against specifications; advises multiple teams of engineers; reviews test plans; creatively analyzes the data to draw conclusions and determine what additional data should be collected; interprets results and provides feedback to cross-functional teams.

• Applies and teaches others on analyses and using appropriate tools; identifies issues and/or patterns of issues and implications for the work; makes recommendations to address issues.

• Independently identifies issues or patterns of issues in code and provides the implications and recommendations to improve performance; helps lead others to run algorithms and add a new feature to existing algorithms; implements new algorithms using software; improves outcomes by drawing connections between new and existing algorithms; drives the software architecture framework.

• Coordinates team within a specific domain and oversees the engineering and management of complex or novel machine learning data.

• Develops novel machine learning solutions aligned with proposals or roadmaps for complex products; advises and supervises small groups of less experienced engineers working together on common tasks.

• Oversees and provides technical expertise to others conducting experiments within a domain to train and evaluate machine learning solutions.

• Evaluates topologies against performance, and cost variables and uses the feasibility findings to review the high-level design; provides recommendations for route/topology that should be used to maximize performance, quality, and costs while reducing risks to the schedule and implementation.

• Displays deep knowledge in multiple areas; acquires advanced knowledge of industry trends, competitors' products, and advances in various engineering fields related to multimedia systems products and technology; reads technical articles and publications; shares knowledge and seeks best practices from open-source community; shares knowledge of multiple areas within their team and across teams working on similar products.

• Stays abreast of current and future trends to make suggestions in strategic discussions within and/or across domains about the product/technology roadmap.

• Leads technical conversations; identifies technical issues that affect project or other areas of overall system and complex synthesizes issues into an appropriate document for discussion with senior-level audience (e.g., project lead, other team leads); participates in patent application reviews.

Additional Preferences:

1. Understand, Maintain and tune advanced signal processing algorithms to further the state-of-the-art audio infotainment features in a vehicle.

2. Maintain, tune and develop the algorithms for handsfree phone calls in car-cabin.

3. Understand, maintain, tune and support speech enhancement using multiple linear and distributed microphone arrays.

4. Distributed microphone-based signal processing to identify the number and directionality of the desired talkers.

5. Well versed with multi-rate signal processing and adaptive signal processing.

6. Sound knowledge of advanced signal processing concepts including but not limited to adaptive signal processing, statistical signal processing, multi-rate signal processing, time, frequency and sub-band-based signal processing, adaptive beamforming, and other speech enhancement techniques.

7. Experienced in using tools like adobe audition etc in analyzing audio artifacts.

8. Exceptional team player.
