This role supports every part of the merchandising process through seamless execution throughout the entire product lifecycle from assortment curation and sample management to in-season business analysis.The individual is responsible for identifying assortment opportunities while partnering with their cross functional team to develop and curate the right product offering based on gathering relevant market trend data and conducting a financial analysis of the business. The ideal candidate will align with the brand strategy by bringing creative thinking and innovation to help drive profitable business decisions and positive customer experience. The associate will create and maintain vendor relationships as well as influence and negotiate terms to drive item selection and pricing.Success will be measured in the category’s ability to meet the sales and profit goals, as well as the individual’s ability to contribute and execute to the brand/category vision, facilitate cross-functional partnerships, and meet deadlines. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in developing a career in the merchandising field.Please note, this role is on-site at our headquarter office in Farmers Branch.ResponsibilitiesOwnership of buying a product category within the buying areaSupports the daily operations within a designated buying area and develops partnerships with the Director of Merchandising on all necessary tasksThe ability to conceptually plan assortments that meet financial objectivesEntering, updating, managing, tracking, and organizing all production and marketing samples to ensure timely deliveryAssisting the Director of Merchandising on all internal marketing, ecommerce, and photography needs.Analyze reports to drive sales, gross margin, and merchandise sell-through to ensure desired results are being achievedHelp in setting up all product line reviews and taking detail notes for any revisions necessaryAble to assist in delegating and directing daily activities of the Merchandise Product Coordinator/Merch assistant.Prioritizing tasks and balancing the immediate and long term needs of the businessResearching and executing development of product in the marketplaceWorking closely with planning to understand financial indicators to react and drive business.Stay abreast of current trends and monitor competitor’s merchandise assortments, pricing architecture, and promotional activities.Clearly communicate to vendor partners the guidelines and processes to appropriately execute all product needs in terms of sampling, labeling, ticketing, packaging and shipping guidelines.Conduct negotiations independently with manager’s approval.Travel domestically and/or internationally to attend trade shows, visit factories and showrooms as business dictates.Experience, Skills, & Ability RequirementsBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required3+ years of buying and/or category management experienceStrong financial acumen, problem solver and experience in negotiating costingAbility to develop strong working relationship with peers and cross-functional teamsFlexible and adaptive to changing prioritiesAbility to demonstrate strong listening, oral, and written communication skillsStrong organization skills and detail orientedProficient with MS Office programs as well as working with database formats.
