SUMMARY
Opportunity for an EHS Manager to join Adient’s automotive seating and foam plant in Georgetown, KY. The EHS Manager will coordinate various health and safety practices and programs designed to safeguard all employees and to create a work environment conducive to employee wellbeing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- The EHS Manager will advise the organization on regulatory changes and investigating incidents and ensure risks are addressed. Be thoroughly familiar with all federal, state, and local health and safety laws. Recommend actions to keep the plant in compliance with these laws.
- Oversee EHS reporting and documentation to ensure proper documentation and reporting according to internal and external standards.
- Supervise and develop the training of employees on EHS policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Ensure the HR Manager is aware of all safety related programs.
- Direct and serve as chairperson for the Plant’s Safety programs.
- Conduct or assist in plant housekeeping and safety inspections. Coordinate corrective actions if necessary, with other managers.
- Develop and implement educational and training programs relative to safety. Orient new employees and update current employees on safety and health procedures.
- Purchase, distribute, monitor, and maintain the use of safety medical supplies and equipment.
- Establish and maintain employee workers’ compensation and health record files.
- Process all workers' compensation claims.
- Keep current on the latest safety procedures and equipment by maintaining membership in appropriate organizations, attending pertinent seminars, and reading professional journals.
- Maintaining and upholding environmental policies within the site and company.
- Implement and ensure compliance with all testing, monitoring, and record keeping requirements of chemicals in the plant to produce foam.
- Notify the HR Manager and Plant Manager of any air concentrations in excess of allowable limits. Monitor actions to correct unacceptable levels.
- Conduct training to ensure that every employee is aware of the potential hazard exposure and is familiar with proper safety measures.
- Analyze all jobs and their component tasks to identify potential exposure to isocyanates. Maintains a list of all such jobs and the employees assigned to them.
- Develop written procedures for every job task where an employee’s failure to perform the job properly could result in injury or a safety issue.
- Prepare, administer, and provide training in the plant’s emergency containment and removal procedures, which are to be implemented if there is a chemical spill.
- Maintain and uphold the workers’ compensation penalty/refund program within the Company.
- Maintain, report, and analyze information relative to workers' compensation costs. Use the information to help minimize costs and properly administer the plant’s penalty and refund adjustment program.
- Compute and recommend prudent changes in the dollar amount of the reserves on workers' compensation claims and estimated penalty/refund amounts.
- Monitor and sustain the safety action plan within the plant. Recommend specific annual objectives for the plant. Design and implement safety motivational programs. Maintain and report monthly statistics pertaining to the plant's safety record.
Education/Experience:
- 3-5 years in industrial safety, industrial health care experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- College degree is safety, industrial hygiene, or related speciality preferred.
