Job Description:

This is a full-time, on-site role located in San Leandro, CA. The QC Technician will conduct routine quality control testing and perform laboratory procedures using laboratory equipment and techniques in a GMP and FDA environment. The technician will be responsible for releasing bulk and final product.

The QC Technician will work cross-functionally with account managers, purchasing and manufacturing to support business operations as needed.


Lot Release:

  • Assign lot numbers on products to be bulked and filled.
  • Check production samples for color, odor, and texture against Master and specifications.
  • Check viscosity, specific gravity and pH of bulk samples.
  • Check if components, label, batch number and production records are correct.
  • Perform microbial contamination testing of bulk and finished good samples.
  • Approve product bulking and filling.
  • Enter product test results into QC log.
  • Store retain samples in designated locations.
  • Verify and sign cleanliness of compounder’s tank when needed.


Raw Materials:

  • Sample, inspect and test raw materials against Master and specifications.
  • Test viscosity, pH, specific gravity, IR Profile of raw materials.
  • Perform microbial contamination testing of raw materials.
  • Record test results in respective raw material files and release raw materials for production.
  • Keep retain samples in designated locations.


Components and Labels

  • Sample, inspect and test components.
  • Check labels for accuracy.
  • Check components for functionality.
  • Release labels and components for production.
  • Keep retain samples in designated locations.


Other Duties

  • Perform stability studies on new products and write reports.
  • Determine fill weight for new products.
  • Write Certificates of Analysis.
  • Track calibration status of lab and manufacturing equipment.
  • Maintain records and keep spreadsheets updated.
  • Assist with collecting information about raw materials as needed.


Qualifications  

  • High School Diploma required. Bachelor degree strongly preferred.
  • Experience as a lab technician in cosmetics, skincare or similar space such as food.
  • Quality Control and analytical skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking capabilities and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in a GMP environment a plus.
