Location: Canton, MI


We are looking for an efficient HR Personnel Administrator who will be responsible for all aspects of the management of salary data, ensuring timesheets are accurate and payments are made on time. The ideal candidate for this role will provide administrative support by maintaining attendance tracking programs, processing payroll updates, maintaining files, and managing communications for the HR Department.


Position Duties:


  • Evaluate the accuracy of timesheets submitted by each company department every week and contact supervisors or individual employees if there is a discrepancy
  • Manage electronic timekeeping systems
  • Enter information accurately into the payroll system, including employee taxes, exemptions, transfers, and firings/resignations, as details change
  • Respond to any errors in payroll by reviewing past records and making wage corrections or adjustments, when necessary
  • Track employee absences through the payroll software and recording details about personal days, sick leave, jury duty, or extended leaves of absence; additionally, track employee vacation accruals, approving/denying time off requests, and posting vacation calendars
  • Answer employee questions about payroll, leave amounts, tax forms, and other compensation issues
  • Participate in new employee orientation
  • Handle other duties, as assigned or deemed necessary by supervisors


Position Requirements:


  • Prior payroll experience required
  • Strong understanding of employment and payroll taxes
  • Strong accounting and math skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Experience operating in a union environment preferred
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED required; relevant College Degree or coursework in advanced math, finance, accounting, business, or other related field preferred
