Senior Control Engineer


Position Overview

LHH is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer - Developer to join our dynamic team. This role involves engineering work that focuses on researching, designing, and developing new products, as well as integrating control systems related to Genset operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Configure microgrids, transformation/distribution systems, and comprehensive control systems for customer projects.
  • Design and develop projects related to new or existing products.
  • Work on generator set control systems, wiring harnesses, electrical diagrams, electronic engine governor systems, automatic voltage regulators, transformers, heaters, distribution panels, motor controls, protective relays, and both LV & MV paralleling switchgear.
  • Integrate electrical and mechanical applications with control HMI systems.
  • Collaborate with a global Controls engineering team on various projects.
  • Design interfaces between different proprietary hardware (PLCs, Web HMIs, and Database).
  • Convert existing SCADA systems to applications using the .NET framework.
  • Develop interfaces with multiple third-party APIs to centralize databases.
  • Analyze manufacturer wiring drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, data sheets, and similar documents.
  • Research and understand requirements from various engineering standards, contracts, and proposal documents.
  • Prepare basic engineering calculations and drawings in accordance with applicable electrical codes and contract requirements, while utilizing industry standards and adopted symbology.
  • Draft equipment specifications for major electrical equipment.
  • Apply proper design principles and tools for product development and improvements.
  • Review and compare customer specifications against company designs and equipment vendor proposals.
  • Complete tasks according to standard engineering principles and practices.
  • Promote a culture of compliance and adhere to the company’s Code of Conduct.
  • Perform special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering with 5 years of experience in Controls, Electrical, or Automation engineering, or 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Fundamental knowledge of Diesel and Gas reciprocating engines.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XAML, Python Scripting, and APIs.
  • Expertise in SQL, Influx DB, or other database systems and query writing.
  • Understanding of device communication protocols such as TCP-IP, Modbus, and CANbus.
  • Strong knowledge of power systems.
  • Experience with SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).
  • Familiarity with version control systems like SVN and Git.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, line drawings, and ladder diagrams.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and follow-up skills.
  • Programming skills: PLCs, structured text programming, scripted languages, and Boolean/digital logic.
  • Willingness to travel to customer and manufacturer sites.
  • Solid computer skills: AutoCAD LT, AutoCAD Electrical, PLC Programming, MS Office.
