Job Title: Senior Energy Engineer

Location: Manhattan, NY

Department: Building Operations, Decarbonization & Efficiency (BODE) team.

Position Overview: The Senior Energy Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing energy efficiency projects and strategies, conducting energy audits, and analyzing energy consumption data. This role involves collaborating with clients, internal teams, and stakeholders to identify opportunities for energy savings and sustainability improvements. The Senior Energy Engineer will play a critical role in driving energy conservation initiatives, optimizing energy systems, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.


Key Responsibilities:

Energy Audits and Assessments:

  • Conduct comprehensive energy audits and assessments of facilities, systems, and processes.
  • Identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and recommend actionable measures.
  • Prepare detailed audit reports with findings, recommendations, and cost-benefit analyses.

Project Development and Implementation:

  • Develop and design energy efficiency projects, including retrofits, upgrades, and new installations.
  • Manage the implementation of energy projects, ensuring timely completion within budget.
  • Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to execute projects effectively.

Energy Management and Optimization:

  • Monitor and analyze energy consumption data to identify trends and anomalies.
  • Implement energy management systems and practices to optimize energy usage.
  • Develop and maintain energy models to predict and evaluate energy savings.

Technical Support and Consultation:

  • Provide technical expertise and support to clients and internal stakeholders on energy-related matters.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to promote energy awareness and best practices.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in energy technologies and industry trends.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal energy regulations and standards.
  • Prepare and submit required energy reports and documentation to regulatory authorities.
  • Maintain accurate records of energy performance, project outcomes, and savings achieved.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy engineering or energy management on commercial or multifamily projects
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing energy efficiency projects.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, lighting, renewable energy, and building automation systems.
  • Proficiency in energy modeling software and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Work Environment:

  • This position may require occasional travel to client sites and project locations.
  • Work may involve exposure to various environmental conditions, including mechanical rooms, rooftops, and construction sites.
  • The role may require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary.
