Responsible for cage wash processing logistics and inventory control in a state-of-the-art facility. Completes facility duties according to standard operating procedures while ensuring a consistent sanitization program.


Job Description

  • Operates mechanical cage wash units, bulk steam sterilizers, decontamination equipment and material-transfer vacuum systems according to standard operating procedures and manufacturer instructions.
  • Develops and implements standard operating procedures to provide a safe environment and quality supplies.
  • Documents, organizes and maintains preventative maintenance records and manufacturer specification materials.
  • Processes all animal cage components & related equipment through mechanical cage, bottle, rack or tunnel washers.
  • Responsible for maintaining adequate levels of sanitization chemicals.
  • Oversight of bulk bedding silos.
  • Maintains fixed equipment filters, air-handler and cage-top filters.
  • Performs quality assurance monitoring and record-keeping ensuring proper sanitation.
  • Must have an in-depth understanding of equipment maintenance, washing equipment operation and safety components, cleaning and sterilization cycles.
  • Ensures compliance with required regulations and consistently follows program and institutional procedures and policies.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and report to mechanical failures immediately to management.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
