Job Summary:

The Senior Project Architect provides leadership and mentorship to the project team throughout all project phases, focusing on both design and technical aspects. They lead the development of designs and documentation from the schematic phase through construction, typically serving as the Document Team Leader. This role will be focused in the gaming, entertainment, hospitality, hotel, workplace, and retail industry.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Leadership:

  • Oversee certain project management duties, including client and consultant meetings and communications.
  • Manage the project from initial design through to construction administration.
  • Establish project documentation requirements through research, consultations with the Project Manager, Principal in Charge (PIC), Lead Designer, and client interviews.
  • Develop architectural solutions that address client needs, requirements, and complexities.
  • Collaborate with the design team to refine the overall project design, addressing client needs such as budget, schedule, and vision. Offer technical expertise on material and design choices that could impact the project’s design or cost.
  • Supervise the creation of technical documentation (drawings and specifications) in alignment with client standards for all project stages.
  • Lead a team of technical staff to produce project technical documentation and solutions.
  • Coordinate with consultants to ensure timely completion of documentation phases. Integrate structural, electrical, and mechanical drawings and specifications with architectural documents, and collaborate with engineers to align architectural and engineering elements within the A/E team, including specifications.
  • Conduct code analysis for assigned projects and ensure compliance with all relevant Federal, State, and Local laws, ordinances, regulations, and documentation requirements.
  • Perform construction administration tasks such as reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, conducting site visits, and making document modifications as needed.

Document Team Leader Role:

Setting Project Documentation Requirements:

  • Define the document set for Project Team Leaders and create a milestone schedule for contract documents.
  • Complete code analysis and ensure document compliance.

Meeting Documentation Budget:

  • Develop a work plan for the document team and delegate tasks accordingly.
  • Monitor documentation efforts to stay within the allocated client hours/budget.

Completing Documentation Within Project Schedule:

  • Provide documentation milestones for integration into the overall project schedule.

Leading and Directing Documentation Team:

  • Guide and oversee the efforts of both client and consultant document team members to meet milestones and quality standards.
  • Report weekly progress to the Project Manager.
  • Identify submittals for review during Construction Administration (CA).
  • Approve deviations from contract documents during CA.
  • Assist with document modifications as required during CA.

Ensuring Quality of Drawings and Specifications:

  • Coordinate consultant documentation and execute details in line with design direction and intent.
  • Incorporate Quality Assurance review comments.
  • Assemble record documents and input final project space allocations into the Project Journal upon project completion.

Other Duties:

  • Assist with Quality Control reviews and stay informed on local and state building codes. Notify the team of potential conflicts.
  • Support new business development and participate in the proposal/interview process as needed, including developing and presenting materials, drawings, and models.
  • Take on special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) or Master of Architecture (MArch) degree.
  • 10+ years of architectural experience, including supervisory and management roles, preferably within the hospitality, gaming, & resort industry.

Training Requirements (Licenses, Programs, or Certificates):

  • Licensed Architect with Professional Registration.
  • Advanced proficiency in Computer and Information Management Skills (Revit).
