Import Export Coordinator

SUMMARY
Responsible for import and export compliance (with a strong focus on import), supply chain security (incl. C-TPAT) and transportation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following and other duties that may be assigned:
Review, continuously improve and execute processes pertaining to import compliance, export compliance and coordinating with other government agencies involved with import and export shipments, as needed.
Import classification determination and entry filing audits. Manage customs brokers used by E.G.O.
Coordinate Duty Drawback processes.
Manage USMCA and other certifications from suppliers and review and issue certification for locally produced parts.
Handling of inter-company invoices for services in regard to their dutiability.
Establish processes required to increase compliance with import and export regulation.
Execute all functions pertaining to E.G.O.’s C-TPAT program and other supply chain security issues. Maintain data required for the program including maps of cargo flow, approved business partners etc. Audit or coordinate audits internally and, if needed, externally.
Train Shipping and Receiving personnel as well as other departments (Logistics, Customer Service, Service etc.) on supply chain issues.
Coordinate activities with Corporate Supply Chain Management.
Define interfaces with freight forwarders, steamship lines and other service providers. Assist in the selection process of such suppliers.
Monitor transportation service providers’ performance. Resolve transportation-related problems.
Review invoices for freight and brokerage services.
Track shipments. Review and update shipping notifications to provide updates to all interested departments.
Monitor and enforce proper use of freight forwarders, correct and complete shipment documentation and record retention.
Support the evaluation of 3PL warehousing solutions and their implementation if applicable. Define deliverables, analyze costs and review invoices.
File freight claims with insurance providers.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor Degree and a minimum of five to ten years of experience in import/export and/or transportation. Customs brokerage license not required but should have thorough understanding of brokerage, e.g. through interfacing with others handling customs brokerage. Some technical understanding of electronic controls and components and electromechanical parts helpful but not required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Required to have good oral and written communications skills. Knowledge of the German or Spanish language is not required but an advantage.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
This employee is required to perform numerous calculations and have excellent number recognition skills. The employee will have to perform analysis of material requirements, material transaction and inventory levels and work with large amounts of data.
COMPUTER SKILLS
The employee must have advanced experience at Microsoft Excel in order to perform complex data analysis on a regular basis, and at least basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint. The employee must feel comfortable using these tools and be quick to develop additional computer skills as needed while on the job. SAP experience, primarily in the Materials Management module, and/or in the modules of Sales and Distribution, Warehouse Management and Production Planning would be a significant plus.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Continuous education, advancement and knowledge building skills are encouraged. Professional certifications, such as issued by organizations like ASCM, WERC or ISM, are considered a plus.
