Overview


Highcrest Capital LLC ("Company") is actively seeking a seasoned Director of Credit to lead our dynamic credit analysis team and maintain relationships with key lending partners and service providers.


  • Experience in a similar capacity with a non-bank lending or servicing entity is essential.
  • A legal degree and prior experience as a Chief Credit Officer is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of private credit, asset-based lending, and working capital loans is required.


The Director of Credit will collaborate with our Portfolio Manager to make pivotal decisions regarding lending offers, terms, and structures, ensuring profitable and secure investments. This position will also be integral to future lending strategies and structures.


Core Responsibilities:


  • Decision Making on Lending Proposals: Independently assess and decide on loans/advances ranging from $850,000 to $1,500,000, including reviewing credit analyst summaries and making determinations on offers, declines, and transaction structures without further oversight.
  • Collaborative Underwriting: Work jointly with the Portfolio Manager to co-underwrite various financing options such as private credit, asset-backed loans (including commercial real estate bridge loans and equipment purchase loans), working capital loans, and other financial products. Responsibilities include approving, declining, or structuring loans and advancing the underwriting process to ensure closure.
  • Team Management: Supervise a team of five experienced credit analysts and underwriters, managing all personnel aspects such as performance evaluation, training, and development to maintain high expertise and efficiency.
  • Lending Partner and Service Provider Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for our strategic lending partners and service providers, managing and reviewing status reports, overseeing servicing activities, workouts and modifications, and coordinating external collections and legal recovery actions. Must have executive presence and gravitas at an executive level.


Qualifications:


  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field; a legal degree is highly preferred.
  • Experience: At least 15 years in credit risk/underwriting, with a minimum of 8 years in a leadership role; hedge fund experience strongly preferred.
  • Financial Acumen: Deep knowledge of credit risk, underwriting, and legal implications of the entire credit cycle; demonstrated track record of informed lending decisions based on comprehensive financial analysis.
  • Market Knowledge: In-depth understanding of market trends, regulatory environment, and factors affecting credit risk; experience with various FinTech lending products is essential.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven leadership capabilities with strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey complex financial concepts.
  • Decision-Making Ability: Robust analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to evaluate complex information and direct strategic credit portfolio decisions.
  • Negotiation and Relationship Management: Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to manage relationships with various stakeholders; experience with contracted service providers is a plus.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and ensuring compliance across credit operations.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in financial analysis software, databases, and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with advanced financial modeling and statistical analysis tools.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to contribute to strategic planning and advise on portfolio risk management and growth opportunities.
  • Communication Skills: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, able to present detailed reports and strategies to senior management and external stakeholders.
