ROLE OVERVIEW

The Post-Production Engineer role is responsible for the management of remote editorial stations, networked storage infrastructure, LTO archival libraries, automation systems, data migration tools, NLEs, color, and mix systems. 


This engineering position consists of planning, operational, and customer service focused elements. This role will be the main point of contact for our post-production operations.


Please note, this role is not remote and will be on-premise at our facility in Culver City, California.



ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and Optimize Workflows: Lead the design, management, and continuous improvement of technical workflows for both internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Project Planning and Equipment Management: Oversee the planning, setup, and preparation of post-production equipment, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently. Manage equipment logistics to guarantee top-tier performance and adherence to project timelines.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Upgrades: Conduct regular inspections and tests on all post-production equipment to maintain high-quality standards. This includes routine fault finding, preventative maintenance, coordinating repairs, and planning for necessary upgrades or replacements.
  • Technical Support: Provide expert technical support to resolve issues with editorial systems and assist workflow teams with post-production system integrations, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
  • Technology Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor, evaluate, and optimize the performance of existing post-production technologies. Research and recommend new software and hardware solutions to keep the company at the forefront of industry standards.
  • Capital Utilization and Forecasting: Analyze and forecast equipment utilization to advise on capital expenditures that will drive growth in the post-production business. Make data-driven recommendations to enhance resource allocation and project success.
  • Operational Guidance and Documentation: Guide technical operators and production staff through complex operational scenarios. Ensure smooth transitions between project phases with thorough handover documentation.
  • Collaborative Project Delivery: Work closely with the post-production management team to ensure that all projects meet the highest standards of quality and client satisfaction.
  • Business Process Improvement: Regularly analyze current business practices, identify areas for improvement, and collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement procedures that enhance efficiency, profitability, and overall business success.



ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Post-Production Engineering Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in post-production engineering or technical support, with a proven track record of managing complex technical environments.
  • Software Administration: Expertise in the administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro, and DaVinci Resolve environments, ensuring seamless operation and high performance across all projects.
  • Operating Systems Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Mac and Linux operating systems, including system administration, scripting, and optimization. Familiarity with Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Active Directory (AD) environments is highly desirable.
  • Production Workflow Knowledge: In-depth understanding of production terminology, post-production workflows, and industry standards, particularly in television and feature film production.
  • Proactive Problem-Solving: A forward-thinking, innovative mindset with the ability to critically evaluate and enhance existing processes. Adept at developing and implementing new workflows to support the growth and scaling of the business.



DESIRED SKILLS

  • Basic Network Administration: Fundamental understanding of network administration, including basic configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of network infrastructure to support post-production environments.
  • Project Management Expertise: Strong project management and delegation skills, including the ability to plan, coordinate, and oversee projects from inception to completion. Proficient in resource allocation, budget management, risk assessment, and status reporting to ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Customer Support and Service Orientation: Excellent customer support skills with the ability to address client needs, troubleshoot issues, and provide solutions that ensure a positive user experience.
  • System Monitoring and Remote Management: Familiarity with system monitoring and remote management tools, ensuring consistent performance and swift resolution of technical issues in distributed environments.
