This company is seeking an experience Packaging Engineer to create and enhance packaging solutions for incoming materials and product crating. This newly established role involves collaborating with internal stakeholders to design, review, recommend, test, and implement various packaging proposals. The Packaging Engineer will closely partner with the Supply Chain Management sourcing team to enhance supplier-provided component packaging, aligning with quality, cost, and waste reduction goals. Additionally, they’ll collaborate with the Lean Manager to identify opportunities for improved packaging solutions in the manufacturing process.


REQUIREMENTS

BA/BS Degree

4 years of relevant experience and advanced understanding of packaging concepts and principles

Demonstrated experience in delivering packaging solutions (preferably in a manufacturing environment)

Willingness to work independently and travel 25% (domestic + international) to collaborate with vendors and suppliers on packaging solutions

Ability to foster team commitment (both internal and external) to tasks and execution

Skill in influencing key individuals within and outside of one’s own group

Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms


PREFERENCES

Packaging Engineering Degree

Experience in fixture design, equipment design, or manufacturing/process optimization is a plus


JOB DUTIES

Offer guidance to project teams on reducing material costs and minimizing waste.

Create comprehensive packaging designs to optimize the flow of materials from receiving to production.

Work with suppliers to develop packaging solutions compatible with automation equipment, minimizing handling.

Evaluate reusable packaging solutions and align organizational resources for projects.

Oversee packaging development projects, ensuring timely and budget-conscious execution.

Audit manufacturing and packaging activities to ensure adherence to design specifications.

Assess supplier data, drawings, and materials for design feasibility, considering cost and time.

Contribute to the creation and review of packaging quality standards and testing procedures.

Hands-on assembly of prototype packaging and resolution of material-related issues.

Develop robust packaging specifications to guide successful execution.


SCHEDULE

Day: 8:00am-5:00pm generally. Must be available to come in on emergency basis.
