IT Security Analyst


Our client, an upstream exploration and production company, seeks a skilled IT Security Analyst to join their team. This role is pivotal in designing, implementing, and managing IT security systems, continuously enhancing the organization's IT security posture.


The successful candidate will ensure a high level of security across all aspects of the company's IT environment. They will lead efforts to design security solutions, administer security systems, and collaborate with IT leadership and external experts on mitigation strategies and recovery playbooks.


Responsibilities

  • Assess and address IT-related security risks.
  • Design, document, recommend, and implement IT security strategies and technologies.
  • Identify and manage potential and actual intrusion attempts.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews and analyses of security events.
  • Lead security audits with internal and external teams to ensure compliance.
  • Recommend security tools and budgetary requirements.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments and present risk reports to management.
  • Oversee security efforts across corporate, SCADA, mobile, and cloud environments.
  • Manage endpoint security for servers, clients, mobile devices, and cloud systems.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with third-party security operations center partners.
  • Evaluate third-party technologies for potential security risks.
  • Facilitate and participate in remediation and recovery exercises.
  • Manage security incidents and coordinate remediation.
  • Lead security training programs and ensure staff awareness of policies and best practices.
  • Maintain and update IT Security Policies.
  • Partner with IT and business teams to align processes with security protocols.
  • Act as a point of contact for Enterprise Risk Management and audit teams.
  • Stay informed about regulatory standards and promote industry best practices.
  • Lead and deliver security-related projects.
  • Contribute to technology planning and adapt to the evolving demands of a growing organization.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Security, or a related field.
  • More than 3 years of experience conducting IT compliance assessments (NIST, SOX).
  • More than 3 years of experience administering IT security controls.
  • Familiarity with IT ticketing systems such as Jira.
  • Strong knowledge of technical infrastructure, networks, databases, and IT security.
  • Proficiency with security tools such as IPS/IDS, SIEM, IAM, etc.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in upstream Oil and Gas operations.
  • Familiarity with IoT and SCADA systems.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Expertise in Windows workstation and server administration.
  • Experience conducting security reviews and risk assessments.


Location & Work Schedule

This position is based in downtown Houston. The role follows a hybrid schedule: in-office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with remote work on Monday and Friday.
