Director of Plant Operations

The Director Plant Operations requires a broadly skilled and multi-faceted manager capable of guiding/leading an organization to operational excellence. On a day-to-day basis they will be responsible for managing the performance of the production, mixing and maintenance teams. In addition, they will work closely with the Managers of the Supply Chain, Quality Assurance and Special Project teams to ensure the plant can effectively meet current and anticipated future demand for products. The role will also have extensive interactions with the Leadership Team with respect to both reporting on current performance levels and developing the plans and execution budgets necessary to create Grinds future state production operations.


Responsibilities

  1. Overseeing daily operational activities and ensuring performance targets are met
  2. Collaborating with department managers to improve operational systems and processes.
  3. Developing and executing operational strategies to support company objectives.
  4. Efficiently allocate resources such as personnel, budget, and technology to various projects to ensure optimal productivity.
  5. Continuously analyze and refine business processes to reduce costs, improve quality, and streamline operations
  6. Lead and inspire the operations team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  7. Identify skill gaps and invest in employee development programs to enhance team capabilities.

Essential Functions

  1. Strong working knowledge of factory operations and performance improvement tool sets (Lean/Six Sigma) as well as a basic working knowledge of how to interpret financial statements (P&L/Bal Sheet)
  2. Must have a people centric and process approach to management, strong root cause analysis skills and a basic understanding of how Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms are used to control manufacturing operations
  3. Able to effectively communicate problems, solutions, ideas, concerns, plans, etc., in verbal or written formats to a diverse (shop floor to boardroom) group of audiences


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a major Engineering or Business with 15+ years of experience working in manufacturing operations. Other Majors will be considered if coupled with strong experience in manufacturing operations
  • Strong background in the lean manufacturing and/or six sigma performance improvement methodologies.
  • Highly proficient computer skills, including MS Office software & ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
  • Experience in a food manufacturing facility is preferred
  • Experience with high volume pick/pack operations is a plus along with working in rapidly scaling production environments
