AVFX is seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Developer or Engineer with expertise in Electron to take over the development and ongoing enhancement of an existing software project. This role will require a deep understanding of both frontend and backend development, with a particular focus on building and maintaining desktop applications using Electron. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of the project, driving its success and ensuring it meets the needs of end users.
Core Responsibilities:
- Project Ownership: Take full responsibility for the software project's development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Electron Development: Maintain and enhance the existing Electron-based desktop application, ensuring seamless functionality across platforms.
- Code Maintenance: Analyze the existing codebase, identify areas for improvement, and refactor to enhance performance, readability, and maintainability.
- Feature Development: Design, develop, and deploy new features, particularly for desktop environments, while ensuring optimal performance.
- Cross-Platform Optimization: Ensure the application works efficiently on Windows, and macOS.
- Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders, designers, and other developers to gather requirements, provide feedback, and align the project with business objectives.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and fix bugs, performance bottlenecks, and other technical issues, especially within the Electron framework.
- Documentation: Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for the codebase, APIs, and development processes.
- Technical Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, if applicable.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 3+ years of full-stack development experience, with at least 1 year working on Electron-based projects.
- Electron Expertise: Proficiency in developing and maintaining cross-platform desktop applications using Electron, with a deep understanding of its architecture, APIs, and best practices.
- Frontend Skills: Strong understanding of modern frontend technologies and frameworks (e.g., TypeScript, React, Vue, Angular).
- Backend Skills: Proficiency in backend development, including RESTful APIs, server-side frameworks, and database management (e.g., Node.js, Django, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL).
- Version Control: Experience with Git and version control workflows.
- Testing: Knowledge of testing frameworks and strategies, including tools specific to Electron applications.
- DevOps/Infrastructure: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, AWS (Lambda, EC2, S3, SES).
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, time management, and collaboration skills.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with the specific technologies or stack used in the existing project.
- Familiarity with packaging and deploying Electron applications.
- Knowledge of Electron security best practices, including handling vulnerabilities and sandboxing.
- Experience with UI/UX design tailored for desktop applications.
- Familiarity with agile development practices and tools (e.g., Jira, Trello).
