Applications Engineer Position:


Location: San Jose, CA


To work and collaborate with assigned customer’s cross functional teams (PD/TPM/EPM/SQE/DFM and many more) and FIT’s frontline sales team, as well as factory’s cross functional teams from design-in to mass production of high-volume connector, metal part, accessories, and final assembly products. To work with FIT factory and assigned customer on DFM, design improvement and manufacturing solutions, design modification and tooling schedule. To provide technical support, investigation of problems and recommended solutions to customer. Has strong background in product testing for electro-mechanical interconnection and final assembly. In-depth understanding of key manufacturing challenges, failure analysis, critical-to-function and qualification plan.

Experience preferred:

  • 3 + years of design engineering experience in a mechanical or electrical engineering role
  • 3 + years of application engineering experience in the electronic interconnect industry
  • Customer interface experience in an OEM assignment is a plus
  • Act as the high-level technical expert on all design in activities and lead trouble-shooting for assigned products by conducting root cause analysis among customer and ODM, CM, and EMS subcontractors, and internally.
  • Identify, define, specify and implement existing or new solutions using the company’s products, programs and services
  • Understand customer’s requirements and develop suitable solutions and work with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Create and maintain activity documentation

Qualifications/ Education/Certification preferred:

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in providing technical sales and/or support in connectors, cable assemblies, or similar electro-mechanical assemblies. Must be able to work with minimal supervision and utilize knowledge, experience and judgment to accomplish goals within the framework of a dynamic team-oriented environment. In addition, the ideal candidates should possess the following traits and/or skills:


  • College B.S or Equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar
  • Strong knowledge in SolidWorks or ProE
  • Having strong understandings in manufacturing processes (DFM for example) is a plus
  • Experienced in collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver effective project support
  • Be Innovative and creative in supporting new business opportunities
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and in technical writing
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must be self-motivated, self-disciplined, and think strategically
  • Fluent in Mandarin is a plus
  • Must be willing to be relocated to the Bay Area and travel internationally as needed
