About the role
As the clinical supervisor of the High-Risk Youth Intervention Services (HRYIS) Team, the supervisor will oversee clinicians serving under-resourced youth enrolled in out-of-school time youth programs in the Chicago communities of Austin, Humboldt Park, West Garfield Park, Belmont Cragin, Hermosa, Logan Square, Avondale, Irving Park, and Albany Park. This role provides supervision of trauma-informed assessments and therapy services to youth in the office and community settings. Interventions include a range of therapeutic and behavioral services for youth and their families with histories of trauma and mental health needs. Services are flexible to the clients and family's needs. The supervisor will provide services in a culturally sensitive and appropriate manner.
What you will do
- Supervise clinicians providing assessment and mental health services to youth and their families
- Train supervisees on procedures and clinical functions
- Deliver individualized assessment-based case management services to high-risk, school-age youth 6 to 17 years old and their families
- Provide high-risk youth with evidence-based intervention services that reduce involvement in the criminal and juvenile system, increase school attendance, and when necessary, refer high-risk youth into therapeutic programs that address trauma recovery and other mental health improvements
- Administer an assessment instrument to each program participant to assess participant's risk and protective factors
- Conduct mental health assessments for youth referred for a mental health assessment
- Provide integrated, holistic, and trauma-informed supervision
- Continually assess for any safety concerns and facilitate safety planning when indicated
- Provide culturally appropriate, competent, and individualized supervision in accordance with each supervisees age, gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, and culture
- Lead weekly team meetings
- Provide weekly, individual reflective supervision to each supervisee
- Maintain positive and mutually respectful relationships with other human service providers, entitlement agencies, health care vendors, and the community
- Assist with outcome measures
- Maintain compliance with clinical documentation, timelines and agency policies and procedures including meeting required timeframes for documentation and service notes
- Actively seek consultation whenever necessary
- Maintain compliance with confidentiality policies and procedures
- Ensure that clinicians on the team meet the needs of youth, including through scheduling, provision of safe and intentional community-based treatment, coordination with collateral support resources, and development of effective work/life balance
- Participate in training opportunities
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Skills and Abilities
- LCPC, LCSW, or LMFT required; CADC preferred, but not required
- Ability to be respectful of the diverse cultures of the people served and to provide culturally appropriate, competent, and individualized supervision and treatment in accordance with everyone's age, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, and culture
- Clinical competencies, including trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and substance use disorder treatment, as aligned with training mandated by C4
- Ability to develop and foster therapeutic relationships that center empathic, non-judgmental, strengths-based, and person-centered care
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and family therapy interventions
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to change
- Understanding and willingness to learn about environmental stressors impact on mental health
- Ability to develop solutions to problems
- Ability to speak and write clearly and effectively
- Ability to comprehend complex ideas and complex diagnostic histories of youth
