Finance Director

Responsible for oversight of all finance, accounting, and reporting activities. The finance director will lead all day-to-day finance operations of a budget of $7+ million including functional responsibility for accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll, as well as significant engagement with grants administration.


KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain internal controls and processes regarding revenue and expenditures.
  • Review all approved applications to ensure appropriate program placement and ensure audit readiness.
  • Analyze financial data, cash flow, present financial reports, and monitor progress and changes.
  • Participate in annual budgeting and planning process.
  • Engage the board’s audit and finance committees.
  • Manage insurance coverage and other benefits administration as appropriate.
  • Work closely with the Management Team, on grant accounting and reporting
  • Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications around financial management with staff at all levels throughout the organization.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment to Community Housing Solutions’ (CHS) mission
  • Proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will own the responsibility for CHS.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or commensurate experience required; MBA/CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in finance and accounting
  • Strong background in non-profit management
  • Experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll
  • Experience in grants management as it relates to compliance and reporting of government, corporate and foundation grants
  • Technology savvy, including advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software
  • Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including attentiveness to cultural needs and differences.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment and benefits laws and government compliance.


TIME REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires 40 hours per work week. Office is open 8:30 – 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
