The ideal candidate must have 6+ years of womenswear design experience. The Senior Design role will support the development of woven and cut and sew categories with some outerwear. The candidate must have a strong understanding of fit and construction with a great eye for detail and a modern design aesthetic. Must also be highly organized, able to problem solve and work with a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for design development and research for women’s ready-to-wear collections.
  • Initiate techpacks with proper specs and construction details.
  • Collaborate with the design team to create mood and inspiration boards for the Creative Director to showcase new trends, inspirations, materials and silhouettes.
  • Assist in the execution of made-to-order projects for various celebrities and VIP customers.
  • Research market trends and styles, ensuring comprehensive product and competitor knowledge and communicate knowledge as necessary through written and verbal presentations.
  • An appreciation for textiles and a willingness to support the fabric design and development by working with specific mills directly to discuss developments, etc.
  • Ensure schedule is met for proper delivery of collections. Help manage work flow between technical design, production and sales.
  • Partner with Merchandising to develop commercial components of each collection. Ensure that product is consistent with market trends and adheres to the codes of the Brand and the business strategy.
  • Bring passion, creativity, energy and inspiration to the team; possess the credibility to influence with conviction.
  • Uphold design integrity and high-quality execution throughout the entire development process from concept through to market.
  • Be a creative innovator, leading to both commercial and creative success.
  • Resonate and create continued excitement around the future of Tanya Taylor.


Qualifications:

  • Degree in fashion design required.
  • 6+ years of experience, contemporary ready-to-wear experience is a plus.
  • Strong aesthetic/understanding of contemporary women’s wear and competitive landscape.
  • In-depth knowledge of RTW design techniques and processes; draping and embellishments.
  • Strong sense of style and color and exceptional taste level.
  • Must be proficient in ability to sketch and illustrate.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Photoshop/Illustrator/Excel/Word.
