This is your opportunity to step into a key role with one of the Midwest’s top infrastructure contractors—a company that’s been doing it right for over 50 years and is 100% employee-owned.
Here’s the deal: Our client doesn’t just manage projects; they own them from start to finish. With a team of over 1,600 employee-owners, they’re experts in making the impossible happen—and they’re dang proud of it.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Master the Details: You’ll review project plans, specs, and documents, determining the scope of work to create accurate cost estimates and bid proposals for heavy highway and civil projects.
- Estimate Like a Pro: Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects that involve everything from grading and excavation to underground utilities, bridge construction, asphalt and concrete paving, and pavement preservation.
- Collaborate for Success: Work closely with other departments and stakeholders to ensure estimates are rock-solid and align with project goals.
- Monitor & Adjust: Keep a close eye on project costs, addressing potential overruns before they become issues.
- Stay Safe: Follow all safety protocols and make sure everyone around you does the same.
- Keep Everyone In the Loop: Regularly communicate with team members, subcontractors, and clients to keep projects moving on time and on budget.
- Lead the Charge: Build relationships with clients and subcontractors, ensuring they understand schedules, deadlines, and the scope of work.
- Solve Problems: When challenges arise, you’re the one who steps in to resolve them swiftly and efficiently.
What We’re Looking For:
- Self-Performing Experience: You’ve been in the trenches, with hands-on experience in grading, excavation, underground utilities, bridge construction, asphalt paving, concrete paving, and pavement preservation.
- Proven Experience: You’ve got at least 3+ years of experience in construction estimating, with a focus on heavy civil work.
- Education or Equivalent: A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent field experience in managing projects.
- Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills—you can break down complex project plans and create accurate, detailed estimates.
- Tech Savvy: Familiarity with estimating software like HeavyBid, HCSS, or Bid2Win is a plus.
- Government Contract Experience: If you’ve worked on government contracts and know the ins and outs of compliance, we want to hear about it.
- DEI Champion: A commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in everything you do.
Perks You’ll Love:
- Competitive Pay: $130-150 DOE - Be ready to provide a strong project list that highlights your success and accomplishments
- Bonuses: Annual bonus—because hard work should be rewarded.
- Profit Share/Stock Plan: As an employee-owned company, you’ll share in the success. Their ESOP has grown consistently 30% for the last 4 years and a 20% payout.
- 401k with Match: Let’s get you ready for a secure future.
- Health Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision plans to keep you in top shape.
- Paid Time Off: Vacation, sick leave, and holidays—because balance matters.
- Relocation Assistance: Ready for a change of scenery? We’ve got your move covered.
