Head of Biostatistics

Location: Hybrid - Boston Area

Position Type: Full Time


Summary of Position

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Head of Biostatistics to join our client's team, a leading biopharmaceutical company. This role requires an experienced professional with a strong background in the pharma and/or biotech industry. The successful candidate will lead the biostatistics function, providing strategic direction and oversight for all statistical activities related to clinical development programs. This position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the integrity and quality of clinical data and the successful execution of clinical trials.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the biostatistics team, providing mentorship and guidance to ensure high-quality statistical support for clinical development programs.
  • Develop and implement statistical strategies for clinical trial design, analysis, and reporting in collaboration with clinical and regulatory teams.
  • Oversee the preparation of statistical analysis plans, study protocols, and clinical study reports.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of statistical data and analyses, and provide statistical input for regulatory submissions and interactions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clinical operations, data management, and regulatory affairs, to ensure alignment and successful execution of clinical trials.
  • Represent the biostatistics function in meetings with regulatory agencies, key opinion leaders, and other stakeholders.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in statistical methodologies, and apply this knowledge to improve clinical development processes.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of new therapeutic opportunities and provide statistical input for business development activities.


Requirements

  • Advanced degree (PhD or MS) in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in the pharma and/or biotech industry, with a strong track record of success in clinical development.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with experience leading a team of statisticians.
  • In-depth knowledge of statistical methodologies and their application in clinical trial design and analysis.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and guidelines for clinical development and statistical reporting.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and engage internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
