Job Title: Embedded Firmware Engineer

Location: Portland, OR (hybrid onsite – 3 days onsite)

Duration: 3 months initially (with possibility of extension)

Pay Range: Between $80/hour to $95/hour - may vary based on experience


Our client is seeking a highly skilled Embedded Firmware Engineer to join their team in developing cutting-edge wireless products and solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of embedded systems, wireless communication protocols, and sensor integration. You will play a crucial role in designing and implementing firmware for their next-generation devices by leveraging advanced technologies.


Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain firmware for embedded systems utilizing Nordic nRF52840 SoC or similar platforms.
  • Implement communication protocols such as BLE, SPI, I2C, and UART for seamless device interaction.
  • Integrate various sensors, including strain sensors, IMUs, and other analog/digital sensors, into the firmware framework.
  • Optimize firmware for low power consumption, maximizing battery life in wearable and IoT devices.
  • Develop and maintain firmware update mechanisms over BLE and USB.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
  • Participate in code reviews and testing to ensure high-quality and reliable firmware.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in embedded systems and wireless technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 to 10+ years relevant work experience.
  • Proven experience in embedded firmware development using C.
  • Strong understanding of ARM Cortex-M architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with wireless protocols like BLE.
  • Familiarity with various sensor technologies, including strain sensors, IMUs, and ADCs.
  • Proficiency in debugging and troubleshooting embedded systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with disparate entities within the organization.


(Must Have) Qualifications:

  • Experience with Nordic nRF52840 SoC or similar platforms.
  • Experience with haptic driver firmware development.
  • Knowledge of firmware security and cryptographic protocols.
  • Experience with Zephyr real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Experience with agile development methodologies.
