Our client is a global real estate consulting firm specializing in design & equipment guidance and creative technological solutions for clients ranging from corporate to performance venues and medical facilities.


Responsibilities of the Chief Financial Officer:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a strategic leadership role responsible for managing the financial operations of the company within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee daily banking activities, including monitoring online banking, approving positive pays, and managing cash flow.
  • Coordinate with the CEO on bank activity and review accounting-related emails for issue resolution.
  • Review payroll processes semi-monthly, ensuring payroll journals are accurate, resolving tax filing issues, and addressing employee inquiries.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, manage international payroll, and generate financial reports, including analysis of earned revenues, billings, and unbilled project balances.
  • Post financial entries, prepare income statements, and update financial dashboards.
  • Conduct quarterly financial review meetings with managers, analyzing actual results, forecasts, and backlog data.
  • Manage quarterly tax filings for commercial rent, sales and use, corporate, business, and foreign VAT taxes.
  • Oversee annual updates to compensation files, coordinate audits, prepare tax returns, and administer the 401(k) plan, ensuring compliance and managing audits.
  • Lead weekly financial discussions with the CEO and manage accounts receivable collections.
  • Approve purchase orders and review vendor agreements.
  • Serve as the system administrator for accounting software, managing system upgrades and resolving technical issues.
  • Oversee special financial projects as needed.
  • Manage a small team of accounting professionals responsible for invoicing, collections, billing reports, and accounts payable.


Qualifications of the CFO:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in finance, including 5 years in a senior financial leadership role, AEC industry experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, tax laws, and accounting standards relevant to the industry.
  • Domestic as well as international finance experience (foreign currencies, tax, regulatory).
  • Excellent analytical, strategic planning, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems, particularly Deltek Vantagepoint, Paylocity, or similar platforms.
