Job Summary



The Area Vice President of Operations is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the overall operations of patient care services across multiple states. This role ensures compliance with patient care quality standards and regulations. The AVP of Operations maintains performance improvement activities, participates in quality assurance efforts, and ensures the competency of personnel to meet state, federal, and accreditation guidelines. This leader assists in budget formulation and ensures efficient departmental operations while adhering to all relevant regulations, standards, and protocols.



Qualifications



  • RN with current licensure to practice professional nursing; MSN preferred.
  • 5+ years of hospice leadership experience required.
  • Certified Hospice & Palliative RN preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of performance improvement, quality assessment, and utilization management.
  • In-depth understanding of hospice regulations, accreditation standards, and state guidelines.
  • Proven expertise in staff development strategies for clinical and non-clinical teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Self-directed with strong organizational and time-management skills.


Specific Proficiencies



  • Understanding of palliative care philosophy and principles related to end-of-life care.
  • Proven ability to manage operations with minimal supervision.


Duties and Responsibilities



  • Lead performance improvement, quality assessment, and utilization management initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all hospice regulations, accreditation standards, and state guidelines.
  • Oversee staff development and training programs to maintain a cohesive and effective team culture.
  • Organize and direct nursing/patient care services to meet current medical and nursing standards.
  • Collaborate on budget planning and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
  • Provide oversight of incidents, complaints, performance issues, and patient/family satisfaction.
  • Mentor administrators on agency fiscal, clinical, census, and quality metrics.
  • Develop and implement quality assessment and improvement processes.
  • Plan for new facilities or equipment as needed to enhance patient care.
  • Promote professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary problem-solving and policy development.
  • Foster effective relationships with the community, education systems, and volunteer groups.
  • Ensure compliance with CHAP, CMS, and state regulations across all service lines.
  • Work collaboratively with senior leadership to achieve organizational goals and develop staff potential.
