Job Summary

The Domain Architect plays a crucial role in shaping the technology landscape within a specific domain. This position is responsible for all architecture and design decisions, ensuring that proposed technology solutions not only meet functional and non-functional requirements but also adhere to established architecture standards. The Domain Architect will align these solutions with the long-term digital transformation strategy of the organization, thereby driving significant business impact.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to present complex technical information clearly to a diverse audience, ranging from business executives to developers. This role requires expertise in architecting secure, scalable, and reliable distributed applications, as well as the ability to create and maintain business architecture artifacts and technology roadmaps.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Engage with the domain as part of the Domain Leadership Team to create technology strategy and influence technology direction.
  • Be responsible and accountable for all architecture functions within the domain.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and architects to drive consensus on technology decisions.
  • Create and maintain Business Capability maps for the domain.
  • Develop and maintain Technology Strategy, current and target state architectures for the domain.
  • Participate in all cross-domain architecture routines.
  • Support solution architecture by creating high-level and low-level designs and documenting necessary artifacts.
  • Perform other activities as assigned by the Domain Architecture Leader.

Job Accountabilities

  • Domain Leadership Engagement (10%): Engage with the domain leadership team to drive consensus on technology strategy and validate technology feasibility of business cases.
  • Engagement on Assigned Domain OKRs (15%): Work with domain stakeholders to understand business requirements and ensure all designs are approved per architecture guidelines.
  • Supporting Solution Architecture (15%): Partner with Solution Architects to create high-level designs and validate low-level designs, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Creating and Maintaining Business Capabilities (15%): Create business capability maps and perform capability assessments on new projects.
  • Documenting Key Decisions (15%): Capture decisions, risks, and impediments on design items and ensure consensus among stakeholders.
  • Architecture Governance (20%): Provide oversight on designs presented in Domain Architecture Office Hours and represent the domain in architectural governance routines.
  • Cross-Domain Collaboration (10%): Collaborate with other domain architects to drive design consensus and identify cross-domain impacts.

Requirements

Education:

  • Required: High School Education or Equivalent
  • Preferred: Four-Year College Degree (BA or BS) or Advanced Degree

Experience:

  • Required: 0-2 years of relevant work experience in a similar field or industry
  • Preferred: 5-10 years of relevant progressive work experience

Licenses, Certifications & Specialized Skills:

  • Cloud experience, including migrating legacy solutions to the cloud and architecting solutions on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Broad technology experience in cloud architecture, applications development, databases, analytics, machine learning, and DevOps.
  • Strong project management skills and business acumen.

Working Relationships:

  • Coordinate with Solution & SME Architects on system solutions (Weekly)
  • Collaborate with Platform Teams as needed
  • Engage with Design Stakeholders for architecture and development sign-offs as needed
  • Work with Domain Leadership to maintain capability maps and technology strategy (Weekly)
