Commercial Real Estate In-House Attorney

A leading Commercial Real Estate investment company is actively seeking a skilled attorney for a Senior In-House General Counsel position, embodying the company's core values of innovation, integrity, and a commitment to excellence. The role involves managing the firm's legal affairs, including negotiating documents, resolving disputes, strategizing for litigation, and handling legal risks, requiring a candidate with a strong background in commercial real estate law, sharp business acumen, and the ability to juggle multiple projects.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the company's senior management and external legal advisors to forge legal policies and strategies in a dynamic business environment. We seek someone with a demonstrated ability to tackle complex legal challenges, deep knowledge of transactional and litigation issues, and the offer includes a competitive compensation package with a performance-based bonus.



Some of the Responsibilities will include:


  • Guarantee strict adherence to all applicable laws and regulations by the company.
  • Select, collaborate with, and oversee relationships with external legal firms.
  • Provide legal counsel to senior management on various issues impacting transactions and daily operations.
  • Address and settle legal issues such as lawsuits, arbitration, and settlement talks to prevent future conflicts.
  • Maintain the currency of the company's legal documents, policies, and procedures.
  • Head the legal department, collaborating with other departments to offer legal guidance on numerous company projects.
  • Manage the loan documentation process from beginning to end, including initial creation by external legal counsel and negotiating terms with involved parties.



Experience / Qualifications:


  • Proficient in reviewing and negotiating legal agreements, managing transactions, and guiding dispute resolution processes.
  • At least 10 years of experience in legal positions with a focus on real estate law, including both commercial litigation and transactional matters.
  • Prior experience in managing or mentoring team members is beneficial.
  • Excellent at simplifying and articulating complex legal concepts verbally and in writing.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Having an active bar membership is an advantage but not mandatory.
  • Capable of making independent decisions with little to no supervision. Self-driven with a knack for creativity and solving problems.



Education / Requirement:


Possesses a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a recognized law school
