Job Description:

On behalf of our client, a prominent heavy civil construction firm in Houston, TX, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer to join their team. This role is crucial to the successful execution of infrastructure projects, including highways, bridges, tunnels, and other civil engineering works. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in heavy civil construction and a proven ability to manage complex projects from inception to completion.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Oversee all engineering aspects of large-scale civil construction projects from pre-construction through completion, ensuring adherence to design specifications, schedules, and budgets.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide expert guidance on heavy civil construction practices, including earthworks, concrete, steel structures, drainage, and utility installations.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior engineers, providing technical direction and ensuring compliance with industry best practices and safety standards.
  • Client Interaction: Serve as the primary technical liaison with clients, architects, contractors, and regulatory agencies, maintaining clear communication and strong professional relationships.
  • Problem Solving: Proactively identify potential challenges or risks in the project lifecycle and implement effective solutions to ensure project success.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all work meets the highest standards of quality and complies with local regulations and industry standards.
  • Budget Management: Collaborate closely with the project management team to develop and monitor project budgets, ensuring financial objectives are met.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree or additional certifications in project management or civil engineering is advantageous.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3-7 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 3 years in a senior project engineering role. Experience with large-scale infrastructure projects is essential.
  • Licenses: Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Texas is required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in civil engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Project) and project management tools. Strong understanding of construction methodologies and safety regulations.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely.
