Nashville, United States FW PUBLISHING, LLC Full time

Established in 2000, the Nashville Post is a premier subscriber-based news publication. We deliver breaking business, health care, political, real estate and sports news online at nashvillepost.com and twice daily through our email newsletters. Our print magazine, published three times a year, takes a deeper dive into trends and shines a light on entrepreneurs and big ideas in leadership, innovation and the built environment. The Nashville Post regularly produces events including the In Charge leadership luncheon, the Most Powerful Women luncheon, political candidate forums and much more.

The Job:

FW Publishing is looking for a highly motivated editor-in-chief. Working closely with our publisher and president, our editor is responsible for leading the Nashville Post’s small but strong editorial team. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic leader who will guide our reporting, shape editorial strategy and maintain the highest standards of quality and integrity. Your goal will be to bring business-news-related stories to our readers through our site, daily newsletters and print issues. This position also plays a central role in growing awareness, driving engagement and encouraging reader loyalty. We are looking to grow both readership and subscribers, and to expand our coverage areas.

The ideal candidate will have professional experience in leading an editorial team, overseeing reporting across multiple beats. We’re seeking a leader who’s creative, bold and analytical, with extensive experience in a newsroom. Our editor will also collaborate with our sister publications — the Nashville Scene, The News and Nfocus.

This position is full-time, in-office, and based in Nashville, Tenn.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement our publication’s overall editorial strategy, ensuring consistent voice

Write news stories and report on relevant beats — business, health care, politics, sports and real estate

Develop our email newsletter and social media strategies

Lead and manage a small team of writers, editors and photographers, and engage with designers

Curate a wide range of business-related content — including possible expansion to formats like video and podcast

Maintain editorial standards, ensuring content is accurate and engaging, and aligns with the company's brand and voice

Monitor audience engagement and utilize analytics to measure and optimize content performance

Build and process twice-daily email newsletters

Develop and manage an editorial calendar to ensure timely and consistent content publication

Assist with event strategy and content

Requirements

Four or more years professional experience as an editor — business-related reporting preferred

Strong line-editing and copy-editing skills with knowledge of AP Style

Experience managing multi-channel editorial outlets

Willingness to present and moderate panels or discussions in an array of environments

Ability to multitask and stay organized in fast-paced environment

Experience establishing editorial calendars

Experience managing a writing and reporting team

A strong backlog of sources

Active problem-solver with strong decision-making capability

A leader committed to fostering an inclusive culture and embracing diversity

To apply for this position, please send a cover letter, résumé and three examples of work to FW Publishing President Mike Smith (msmith@fwpublishing.com). We know there could be candidates for this position who don’t tick every box, or who have related skills that aren’t included here.
