Company: Confidential Civil Construction Contractor
Location: Primarily on-site in the Northeast (New York, Maine, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, etc.), with per diem and agreed shift rotation
Salary: Up to $120,000 per annum plus per diem
About the Company: Our client is a leading civil construction contractor based in New England, specializing in preparatory site works for the installation of Solar PV & BESS assets. Their services include excavation, land clearing, road and site office installation, storm water provision, environmental regulation compliance, tree stump clearance, and de-vegetation.
Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Superintendent with a strong background in excavation and earth moving. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in moving earth volumes of 10,000+ cubic meters per job and will be willing to travel and stay near project sites as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage on-site civil construction activities, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Coordinate daily work schedules, site logistics, and equipment usage.
- Supervise and mentor site personnel, including foremen and laborers.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and quality control procedures.
- Communicate regularly with project managers and other stakeholders to provide updates on project progress.
- Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise on site.
- Prepare and maintain daily logs, reports, and documentation.
- Travel frequently to various project sites in the Northeast, living near the site as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil construction, with a focus on excavation and earth moving.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale earth moving projects (10,000+ cubic meters).
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in construction.
- Ability to travel frequently and stay near project sites as required.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
