  • Oversee the creation, deployment, and upkeep of sophisticated identification systems within the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) framework.

  • Integrate multiple logging sources into the SIEM to ensure thorough visibility and monitoring throughout the environment.
  • Perform regular evaluations of the SIEM setup to spot and fix gaps in coverage or performance.
  • Examine and interpret security logs and alerts to pinpoint potential threats and weaknesses.
  • Carry out attack simulations and penetration tests to validate and enhance detection capabilities.
  • Apply threat intelligence to the SIEM to stay ahead of new threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Create and deploy automation scripts for Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) to streamline and improve incident response processes.
  • Offer advice and training to less experienced security engineers and SOC analysts on detection engineering and incident response best practices.
  • Manage ticket queues, handle escalations, and review performance metrics to ensure the effectiveness of detection and response efforts.
  • Maintain clear communication with stakeholders, including top management, to report on detection capabilities and security incidents.


Requirements

  • A degree in computer science, information security, or a similar discipline is preferred.
  • Over 8 years of experience in a similar position.
  • More than 5 years of experience in information security, with a focus on detection engineering and managing SIEM systems.
  • Deep understanding of SIEM platforms and experience in creating and refining rules.
  • Experience collaborating with MSSPs and SOC teams to enhance detection and response capabilities.
  • Strong grasp of log management, correlation, and analysis.
  • Experience integrating diverse logging sources into SIEM platforms.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and standards such as NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, and PCI-DSS
  • Skilled in using network security tools and technologies, including intrusion detection/prevention systems, firewalls, and endpoint security solutions.
  • Advanced knowledge of security configurations for both Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of interpreting complex security data.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, able to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, or similar are preferred.
