Overview:

New England's largest and longest-operating multi-tenant, mission-critical telecommunication, and data center with facilities in Boston and Lowell, MA is looking to add a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to their team. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work under the direction of the Director of Design.


The role involves collaborating with the construction team in designing and constructing mission-critical data center environments. Responsibilities include coordinating mechanical designs with consulting teams, supporting mechanical and controls contractors, and assisting in the creation and implementation of the building masterplan.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Aid in the creation of mechanical standards, including master specifications for the data center.
  • Collaborate with design consultants and operations teams to plan and implement new infrastructure and tenant requirements.
  • Provide engineering support for mechanical contractors during construction.
  • Offer engineering and troubleshooting support for operations and controls.
  • Assist in developing a mechanical systems masterplan focused on high reliability and maximization of colocation data.
  • Implement energy efficiency strategies for mechanical systems.
  • Review and provide direction for overall controls and support the implementation of control systems with the in-house controls team.
  • Support the commissioning process.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to respond to RFPs and conduct site assessments.
  • Aid in mechanical layouts for colocation tenant installations.
  • Review CFD and hydronic models provided by consulting teams.
  • Conduct factory witness testing for major equipment purchases.
  • Ensure information security by appropriately preserving the Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability (CIA) of information assets in accordance with the company's information security program.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • 5-7 years of experience in critical systems design and engineering.
  • PE license preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with Mechanical Systems (HVAC, CFD Analysis, Chillers, Pumps, CRAC/CRAHs, AHUs).
  • Required experience in Mission Critical Data Center or related design.
  • Strong BMS/controls systems design skills.
  • Proficient in software such as AutoCAD, REVIT, Pipe-FLO Professional, Six Sigma, Microsoft Office 365, and Procore.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proficiency in both technical and business writing.
