Join our team We are hiring a Design Manager based in Dalton GA, to work along side our growing Hospitality business sector. This position is responsible for the management of the design studio and field designers throughout the US and India. With particular focus on accurately tracking project design and customer needs, the Design Manager will also be responsible for pacing the team in order to adhere to delivery deadlines. A successful Design Manager will work alongside the production design and design administrative teams, collaborating as part of the custom lifecycle of this elevated hospitality brand.


The ideal candidate will be creative and have experience managing a team, dispersed geographically around the country and overseas. An individual who is able to effectively manage, mentor and prioritize projects in a deadline-driven environment.


Responsibilities


  • Directly manage the Dalton GA design studio and field designers, to ensure efficient and effective workflow, as a first point of contact for daily issues.
  • Prioritize workflow opportunities to allow for more evenly distributed work between field designers, studio designers and overseas resources.
  • Facilitate open relationships between US sales and design teams, to build upon more efficient communication throughout the project lifecycle, in order to provide increased sales and profitability.
  • Be proficient in using appropriate design software and support software programs, to provide mentoring and promote cross fertilization of technical knowledge.
  • Support the function of Production Design, bridging between creative design and production ready product. Also to resolve issues as they arise across departments including P&E and Project Management.
  • Support the function of design administration as it relates to registering and recording project information.
  • Initiate and support scheduled design training, including cross fertilization of knowledge and skill throughout the design department. To provide creative personal development opportunities within the design team, for curated market driven initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with department and company policies and procedures.
  • Assume responsibility for and management of special projects as needed.
  • Occasional travel within the US is required.


Qualifications & Requirements


  • Bachelor degree and 5 year hospitality sector, carpet experience within the design/design management field.
  • Must have prior experience managing a team.
  • Must think creatively, holistically and outside of “the box”.
  • Must be able to identify opportunities for improvement and implement innovative and appropriate initiatives, independently.
  • Must be able to analyze specifics for each project narrative and make decisions based on prior experience. Good judgment is critical.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must have working knowledge of design software programs including but not limited to Texcelle, Apso, Photoshop & Illustrator.
  • Must have working proficiency of, but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
